Midvale City operates under a six-member council form of government and is a city of the fourth class as determined by Utah law. The city is governed by a six-member council comprised of five council members and a mayor. The mayor votes on each matter where there is a tie-vote of the council; on ordinances that enlarge or restrict the mayor’s powers, duties or functions; and in the appointment or dismissal of a city manager. The mayor serves as the chief executive officer and the city manager serves as chief administrative officer overseeing the day-to-day administrative functions of the city.
