A person is guilty of a class B misdemeanor if he:

A. Knowingly gives or causes to be given false information to any law enforcement officer, with a purpose of inducing the officer to believe that another has committed an offense; or

B. Knowingly gives or causes to be given information to any law enforcement officer concerning the commission of an offense, knowing that the offense did not occur or knowing that he has no information relating to the offense or danger. (Code 1975 § 13-850-6)
