A. It is unlawful for any person to drive or move or for the owner of any vehicle to cause the vehicle or permit the vehicle to be driven or moved upon any street in the city if the vehicle’s weight exceeds the limitation provided in Section 27-12-151, Utah Code Annotated, 1953, as amended.

B. Any police officer having reason to believe that the height, width, length or weight of a vehicle is unlawful is authorized to require the driver to stop and submit to a measurement or weighing of the same. Weighing may be done either by means of portable or stationary scales and the officer may require that the vehicle be driven to the nearest scales in the event the scales are within two and one-half miles.
